M6 Hungary

Hungary’s M6 Motorway is a Design, Build, Finance and Operate road undertaken by project company MAK Zrt, which involves building and operating a new section of the country’s motorway.

The M6 project was groundbreaking from the start as it reached financial close in November 2007, just eight weeks after BAFO (Best and Final Offer).

The 86km project runs along the M6 motorway (section Szekszárd-Bóly) to the M60 express road (section Bóly-Pécs) and includes four tunnels and several viaducts.

The consortium, which was appointed preferred bidder in September 2007, comprises John Laing, Strabag AG, Colas SA and Intertoll Europe Zrt.

Through the project company, Intertoll, Strabag AG and Colas SA are responsible for servicing and maintaining the motorway for 29.5 years.

Construction of the motorway started in December 2007 and is due to be completed by 31 March 2010.
