Enfield SchoolsThis £30 million project involved the design and construction of three schools in the London Borough of Enfield, including facilities for pupils with physical, sensory, severe and multiple learning difficulties. The project comprises three schools: Lea Valley High School; Starks Field Primary and Tottenhall Infant School. Each school has been individually designed to blend into its existing landscape. Lea Valley High School and Tottenhall Infant School have been reconstructed, in two phases, on the sites of the existing schools, while Starks Field Primary School has been built on open land. Lea Valley, located next to extensive green open spaces, took the form of a two storey square building with a large internal courtyard. As well as new build there was also the refurbishment of retained buildings which in total accommodate 1,200 secondary plus 250 sixth form pupils. Starks Field Primary School provides facilities for 420 primary pupils, 30 nursery pupils and a Neighbourhood nursery facility providing a further 50 places. It is a one-storey predominantly cedar clad building and provides multi sports hard courts and a five-a-side football pitch. Tottenhall, located in the heart of a residential area is a 1.5 storey traditional build, providing 270 infant places and 45 nursery places. John Laing Integrated Services has responsibility for the premises and delivers a comprehensive range of services including building services maintenance and repair, cleaning, catering and security and waste management. In addition it also delivers asset lifecycle maintenance, refurbishment and renewal.
